In recent years, the German government has accelerated its commitment to phase out nuclear energy while expanding renewable energy capacity. In addition, the government aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increase the share of renewables in the energy mix to over 80% by 2050, and substantially decrease overall energy consumption.

Nordhaven is a city in northwestern Germany with a population of 640,000 people (as of 2023). It is a major cultural and economic hub in the region, home to numerous multinational companies and manufacturing centers. The city has been included in the federal nuclear phase-out program.

The Mayor of Nordhaven needs to develop a new energy strategy, and you have been hired to advise.
