My university gets almost no consulting recruiting, but a nearby target school sometimes has public panels and employer events. Is it worth traveling to those events, or will recruiters mostly focus on students from the host school?
I attend a non-target university but recently placed first in a national case competition with teams from several target schools. Is that meaningful enough to help compensate for the school brand in consulting recruiting, or is it still just a minor extracurricular?
Mayank G.CoachWinning a strong national case competition is a useful signal, but it does not completely replace the recruiting access or brand effect of a target school.
My university is not a target for MBB, but I completed a selective summer program at a target school. It is relevant to business and strategy, but it was not a full degree. Is that worth highlighting on my consulting resume or application?
Mayank G.CoachYes, include it if the summer program was selective and relevant enough to strengthen your academic or professional story.
My university is not a target and none of the firms recruit on campus, but I can register for a public virtual event. Is it actually useful for recruiting, or are these sessions mostly informational?
Mayank G.CoachAttend if the event is relevant and open to you, but use it for what it can realistically provide: current information, exposure to consultants, and possible starting points for follow-up conversations.
