My university is not a target for MBB, but I completed a selective summer program at a target school. It is relevant to business and strategy, but it was not a full degree. Is that worth highlighting on my consulting resume or application?
My university is not a target and none of the firms recruit on campus, but I can register for a public virtual event. Is it actually useful for recruiting, or are these sessions mostly informational?
Mayank G.CoachAttend if the event is relevant and open to you, but use it for what it can realistically provide: current information, exposure to consultants, and possible starting points for follow-up conversations.
A nearby target university runs a case competition that accepts students from other schools. Would participating actually help my consulting recruiting, or is it mostly valuable for students already on that campus?
Mayank G.CoachIt can be useful if the competition is genuinely open and gives you a chance to build a real skill, result, or relationship.
My university has basically no MBB alumni, so every networking guide that says 'start with alumni' is not very helpful. I do not want to spam random consultants on LinkedIn. What is the least awkward way to build a network when there is no obvious warm path?
Mayank G.CoachUse targeted cold outreach built around genuine common ground rather than high-volume generic messages.
