Optionality alone can sound passive, as if consulting is just a holding pattern. The motivation becomes more credible when you explain why solving varied business problems, working with clients, and developing specific skills appeals to you now.

Instead of saying, 'I do not know what industry I want, so consulting keeps doors open,' you might explain that you want repeated exposure to strategic decisions across industries before specializing later.

Keep optionality as one part of the story, not the whole story. Add the specific work, learning environment, and responsibilities that make consulting attractive in the near term.
