Use your industry knowledge as context, not as a substitute for solving the case in front of you.
The interviewer is testing whether you can work from the information provided, make reasonable assumptions and adapt when the facts differ from what you have seen professionally.
Relevant experience can help you generate hypotheses or flag a risk, but label it clearly: "In my industry experience, this can happen, but I would want to test whether it applies here."
Avoid correcting the case because the fictional client behaves differently from your former employer. The strongest experienced-hire answer combines commercial intuition with discipline: use what you know to ask better questions, then follow the evidence in the case.
