Family-business experience can be valuable if you describe the work like any other professional experience: clearly, factually and with a defined scope.
Avoid inflated titles or implying independence you did not have. Recruiters are more likely to trust concrete responsibilities and outcomes than a senior-sounding title in a family company.
For example, explain that you analyzed customer orders, redesigned a simple inventory process or supported pricing decisions, then quantify the scale where the numbers are real.
Use the actual role you performed and focus on the business problem, your contribution and measurable result. The relationship to the owners does not erase genuine work. If the business is small, context such as customer count, annual orders, number of locations or team size can help the reader understand the scale. For more detail, see the consulting resume guide.
