I had an industry summer too. The strongest stories were still about decisions and stakeholders, not trying to call the internship consulting-like.

I'm at a UK MBA and preparing for McKinsey PEI. My stories have enough detail, but once I explain the context, actions, and pushback, the answers can get long. How do I know what detail to keep versus cut?

Same. The why consulting now part probably matters more than defending why you did the internship.
I prepared heavily for fit and behavioral questions, but I have heard some interviews go straight into the case. If that happens, should I expect fit later, or just assume the interview format has changed and move on?
Mayank G.CoachIf the interviewer skips fit, follow their lead. Interview formats vary by interviewer, round, and timing, and you do not need to force a behavioral section into the conversation.
I'm recruiting from a US MBA program and my strongest leadership example is from a project where I influenced the team and drove the decision, but I was not the formal team lead. Is that still a strong McKinsey PEI story, or should I choose an example where I had an official leadership title?
In mocks I sometimes jump straight into what I did and only later realize the interviewer does not understand the situation. If that happens live, should I restart the story or keep going?
Mayank G.CoachYou usually do not need to restart the entire answer. Add the missing context briefly and continue.
