A lower title can still be a rational move if the role gives you stronger long-term development, compensation, exposure, or future options. Titles are not perfectly comparable across industries and consulting firms.

The bigger question is whether the actual responsibility and trajectory justify the reset. Look at what the role leads to, not just what it is called on day one.

If you make the move, be comfortable explaining it as an intentional career investment rather than a demotion you are hoping to hide.
