Pivot explicitly when evidence changes. A strong hypothesis is provisional, so revising it after new data is a sign of learning rather than failure.
The weak move is silently abandoning the old idea. The strong move is to name what changed and connect the new evidence to the revised direction.
Use a simple transition: the exhibit weakens the original hypothesis because X, so I would now focus on Y.
Keep the pivot short, then continue the case. Do not spend time defending an idea that the data has already disproved. For a related reference, see Synthesis vs Summary in Case Interviews: What Candidates Get Wrong.
