I am in a Big 4 role and my current project is likely to run for another nine months. I want to apply to MBB now, but I am worried that leaving mid-project could look bad or create a difficult transition. Is that a reason to wait?
I'm currently in a Big 4 role that is more implementation-heavy, and I may have a chance to move internally into strategy. The catch is that I would probably wait another year before applying to MBB. Is that a useful bridge, or am I just delaying the application?
Mayank G.CoachAn internal strategy move can strengthen your MBB story, but it is only worth delaying if the new work materially changes your experience.
I am currently in audit and may have a chance to transfer internally into a strategy team. Long term I would still like to try for MBB. Is the internal move meaningfully helpful, or do MBB recruiters mostly see the same Big 4 brand either way?
Mayank G.CoachMoving into strategy can strengthen the profile if the new role gives you more consulting-relevant work, but the value comes from the experience rather than the internal label alone.
I am at a Big 4 firm and can probably choose between an internal strategy-type project and a client implementation project. If I want to apply to MBB later, which one is likely to give me the stronger story? The strategy work sounds more relevant, but the implementation role has much more client exposure.
Mayank G.CoachChoose the project that gives you stronger evidence of problem solving, ownership, and impact rather than choosing based only on whether the word 'strategy' appears in the project description.
