Correct the assumption when you have a good reason to do so. Consistency is not valuable if it means knowingly continuing with weak logic.
Good problem solving includes updating your view when new information appears.
If you initially assumed demand was price-sensitive but later data shows customers are relatively insensitive, revise the assumption and explain how that changes your conclusion.
When practice reveals a bad assumption, state what changed, update the logic, and continue.
