Consulting hours vary a lot by firm, office, project and week, so there is no single reliable weekly number.

Client deadlines create peaks, while lighter projects can be much more manageable. Travel can also make the same number of work hours feel longer.

Instead of asking only for an average, ask consultants what a normal week and a bad week looked like on their last two projects.

Use those conversations to decide whether the variability, not just the headline hours, fits the life you want.

tbh For me the learning curve was the attraction. The hours were the tradeoff.
