You can usually make the work specific without revealing confidential information. Focus on the business problem, your actions, the type of client, and the scale of the impact at a level you are allowed to disclose.
Use general descriptors such as "Fortune 500 consumer company" or "regional healthcare provider" only if those descriptions are safe. For metrics, ranges or percentages may work when exact values are restricted and your employer permits them.
A bullet can still show analytical depth: built a pricing model, analyzed customer cohorts, or supported a market-entry recommendation. What matters is that the recruiter understands what you did, not the client name.
When in doubt, follow your employer's confidentiality rules and choose a safer description. Never trade confidentiality for a stronger bullet. The consulting resume guide has more examples of impact-focused wording.
