Start with the type of work you want to do, not the title you think your years of experience should earn. Generalist roles make sense if you want broad case exposure and your experience is transferable across industries. Expert roles make more sense when your value is tied to a specific function, technology, or sector.
Leveling is a separate question. Firms do not simply convert years in industry into consulting seniority. They look at team leadership, problem ownership, executive communication, commercial exposure, and how closely your work resembles consulting.
Your best move is to speak with a recruiter or someone in the target office before applying. Give them a concise summary of your background and ask which track and level they would recommend. That is much better than guessing and applying to the wrong requisition.
